Although there is no study linking hard water to hair loss, many of the minerals that are found in hard water can impact the health and condition of your hair. If you have hard water in your area, you may notice that the extra minerals in the water may cause your scalp and hair to feel dry.  Build up of calcium and iron on the hair may lead to damaging the hair and blocking new growth from follicles. Installing a water purifier in your shower, or a water softener may help prevent some of the hair loss associated with the harshness of hard water.

Sometimes people wonder if their hair loss is a result of their dandruff. This is a very common myth, and can be a bit tricky to answer for a few reasons. In general, dandruff is not a direct cause of hair loss. However, the scratching associated with dandruff can in fact damage the cuticular scale of your hair shafts. The cuticular scale is a protective covering on each individual hair, and when damaged, can lead to the hair falling out. In most cases, dandruff does not lead to such an amount of scratching, and therefore is probably not the reason for your hair loss.

Enjoying the sun is one of the best parts of the summer, but prolonged exposure to the sun can put your hair and skin at risk. The sun can cause the hair follicles and skin of the scalp to dry out, which can cause hair loss. If you are in at the beach or going into the pool, you may also find that the water dries your hair out since the water will rinse out some of the natural oils that protect it. When hair is stripped off its natural oils, it can weaken and fall out.

Why You Can’t Trust Homeopathy

It doesn’t work When tested under rigorous conditions – when neither the patient nor the doctor knows whether they’re using homeopathy or not until all of the tests are done – homeopathy has shown to work no better than a sugar pill. That doesn’t mean people do not feel better after taking homeopathy; only that those feelings aren’t related to the homeopathy. This is known as the placebo effect and is often misunderstood. Conventional medicine also has a placebo effect, on top of its other benefits.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (often abbreviated PCOS) is a common condition in which there is an imbalance in a woman’s sex hormones. Although the cause of PCOS has not exactly been determined, most evidence points to it being a genetic disease. One of the most stressful symptoms of the disease is hair loss. It can be very emotionally devastating to notice your hair thinning or falling out without noticeably growing back. The reason women with PCOS may develop hair loss is due to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is usually more prominent in men. However, women experiencing PCOS usually will have a more excessive amount than normal. DHT shrinks the hair follicles, making it very difficult for hair to grow from them. This can lead
